If you are in the wonderful world of WiFi, you may be familiar with the CWNP family of certifications. The much-sought after certification is the CWNE-something I personally achieved just this past October. Several members of the Active Expert/WiFi Training family are also CWNE.
One certification required in order to be considered for CWNE is the CWAP-Certified Wireless Analysis Professional.
Now, if you’ve even so much as studied for this exam, you can look at that headline and chuckle. While this is my own opinion, I’d say that the words “simple” or “simplify” don’t belong together with CWAP.
In other words, the CWAP is a really, really challenging certificate to earn. And yet, here’s Rasika Nayanajith putting his own spin on a workbook that is designed to do exactly that-make the CWNE seem more achievable.
From what I’ve seen and heard of the product, it’s an impressive work that is certain to help anyone preparing for his or her journey toward their CWAP certification. At the same time, if you are someone who wants to just learn more? Or perhaps you need to refresh your analysis skills? This workbook would be an excellent addition to your toolbox.
While the CWAP texts are strong resources, the CWAP workbook that Rasika has turned out takes the book knowledge and helps turn it into retained information. There are numerous labs included which are all crafted in such a way as to help the student really understand and grasp the course material.
Some lab examples include things like examining different methods for packet capture (since there are a plethora of free and paid tools), with some of the subsequent labs taking a deeper dive into certain methods (like Wireshark). There are also more advanced challenge labs. These additional labs focus on more advanced subjects like client roaming and 802.1X authentication.
Anyone who has done self study for CWAP has probably wandered over to Rasika’s personal blog at some point or other, because as he documented his own CWPA journey, he posted about much of what comes up in the text books (and likely will be on your exam). He’s already exhibited a strong grasp on the subject matter. With the addition of his workbook, this takes things to the next level.
If you are looking for an extra edge in earning your certification, this workbook could be a great option. If you are looking to brush up on less-frequently used skills, this would be perfect!
