CWNP Changes Are Coming…Might Be A Great Time For A Training Partner!

Folks, if you were unaware, this week is CWNP’s annual WiFi Trek conference. This year, the event is being held in Nashville, TN, at the infamous Gaylord Opryland (yes, the same hotel that got Marriott a big fat fine for containing guests’ hotspots). It’s a big deal for the WiFi community. The event starts with boot camps for a few days, and then concludes with another few days of conference, covering a wide range of topics relevant to industry professionals. It also allows CWNP to make some major announcements, should there be any to make.

This year, we got quite a few.

Full disclosure, I am sitting this conference out, so I’ve caught the news from what folks have posted on Twitter-as of the evening of September 18th, it hasn’t even hit the CWNP website, yet.

Some major changes include:

New CWSA certification

This certification had a boot camp ahead of the conference, and it’s been announced that moving forward, it will be a required certification for new and renewing CWNEs. Sounds like this kicks in for either 2020 or 2021, so there is time to prepare.

On top of this one, CWNP announced a few more, and it will be interesting to see how these fall into place:

CWIP and CWCP are brand new. And the JTA (Job task analysis) indicates that the CWNA, which was just refreshed not that long ago, is already getting another review and update-it’s nice to see training courses stay current, isn’t it?

And finally, the long awaited change to the CWNE Application process:

So, what does this all mean? Well, for one, there are at least three new certifications that WiFi professionals may be interested in. At least one, the CWSA, is a new requirement for the CWNE. I’d imagine the other new P level certifications will factor in to the CWNE as well.

Confused yet? Well, for those of us not listening in at WiFi Trek, there’s probably a bit of info the attendees got that we will have soon enough. All that being said, with these new training opportunities and a training path with a few more options on it than before, now is a time when a training partner makes more sense than ever before. As in, a CWNP authorized training partner even.

As in, well, WiFi Training of course!

The fine folks at WiFi Training have already produced an incredible CWNA Lab Guide with actual, usable lab access. They have similar offerings in the words for the P level certifications as well.

With new options, you want to make sure you know everything you need to know, right? Which certifications fit your needs? Which ones must you earn to achieve your desired end goal? A skilled and talented learning provider, especially an authorized one like WiFi Training? Now they are as valuable as ever as a guide to help you reach those training and certification goals!
